While we are mourning the loss of our friend, others are

rejoicing to meet him behind the veil.  (John Taylor)

The Rotary Club of Rochester is mourning the loss of our President and a man who epitomized Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self."

Rest in Peace Howard.

March 24, 1958 - November 28, 2009

More than $7,000 was received by Rochester Rotary Charities in memory of our beloved president.  At the request of his wife, Rotarian Kim Seckendorf, contributions were made to the following area charities:

  • Victim's Inc.
  • St. Charles Childrens Home
  • Homeless Center for Strafford County
  • Gerry's Food Pantry
  • Barrington Youth Association
  • Barrington Food Pantry
  • Rotary Foundation

Additionally, over $3,500 will be dedicated to "Howie's Field of Dreams", a ball field for handicapped children to be built at Roger Allen Park.  This project was conceived by Howard after reading in the Rotarian magazine about a similar field created by another U.S. Rotary club.  The "Field of Dreams" is still in the planning stages, but the goal is to have it open by the spring of 2011.
